Aftermarket HID Question
#3
This all depends on how the HIDs were wired when they were installed.... if they are wired to the factory wiring or a power relay is hooked up to the factory wiring they will do exactly what your factory lights did. Which means auto turn on/off.
Simple test how they are wired, if already installed of course:
1.turn on car (make sure to close door)
2. turn lights on (not auto just on)
3. turn car off (open door and get out)
4. close door and lock the car ( yes i know you left the lights on, but car has to detect that you "exited" the car so it will turn the lights off automatically.)
5. wait for 1-2 minutes and see if the lights turn off automagically.
the reason you leave the light stalk in on is so u can test in daylight. The car has a override that turns off headlights when you leave it on, to save battery of course.

What do you mean aftermarket HID? Bulbs? The IS300 (USDM) comes standard with HIDs. If you replaced the stock HID bulbs with aftermarket HID bulbs, everything would work as normal. If you replaced the ballast with an aftermarket ballast, it would work fine as well as long as you wired it up the same way.
Now lets say you added an aftermarket HID kit to something like the fog lights, which did not come HID from the factory, you can do it 1 of 2 ways, plug in the HID kit to the stock harness OR plug the kit into the harness with a relay going to the battery, the kit would then get power directly from the battery but the signal from the switch would still be what controls when the lights come on or off. Either way you would connect to the switching system so it would function as it should as well.
