owner of 2008 RX400H needs your help
Dear Friends :
I am looking for a pair of tailgate assist ( shock absorber type ) which helps lift the tailgate on my RX400H.
It appears that parts are only available from dealership since it is a japan built vehicle for that years.
Dealers are demanding close to 400 each for these lifters.
Any suggestion where I can pick a pair. I do not mind getting an old pair as long as it has some life left in them.
Any suggestions?

Aftermarket stuff should work fine. Besides amazon, rock auto has it for about $26-30 before shipping. If you want to be a OEM part (used as you mentioned) call your junk yards or check out ebay.

Since it is a Japan Assembled Vehicle , no luck with local oem parts , mechanic tells me he has installed a set last week on a RX 350 , but it was north american assembled vehicle and it was about $50 each in canadian $'s
Mechanic insists it has to be adealer part nothing else would fit. Do not know what to do , in the meantime I am accessing the cargo area from bach seat!
Thank you all who have responded so far. Not many wrceckers here in Canada who have these Japanese built vehicles in their yards.
Perhaps someone in USA can help locate a wrecker who has these lifters/struts for my car, it is a 2008 RX400h.
Thanks.
