Auto trunk delay when opening and closing
I find that opening and closing the trunk takes a bit of fiddling with the remote fob. I usually need to hold the button down for 2-3 secs before it opens. Or there may be a delay between the button press and the door opening, so i press it again causing the door to close again.
New car and happens on both fobs so its not the battery. My Honda trunk opens with one click. Just wondering if anyone else has the same experience and if its normal behaviour. Safety thing so that you don't open by mistake?

Page 59 of the manual says, "press and hold". Which to me means, press and hold until the door starts to open or close.
Plus the manual says this, "Back door: A buzzer sounds and the emergency flashers flash twice to indicate that the back door is opening/closing."
So you can press and hold until you hear the buzzer or see the lights.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I agree with David and Paul. This is normal behavior. My previous 2006 RX400h had the same sort of need to hold the button down as my 2013 RX450h does. I believe it's just part of Lexus' more conservative nature, and is fine by me. In fact, to Paul's point, there is another thread here somewhere within the past year of someone opening the rear door remotely in a parking lot when they were approaching and not paying attention -- the door hit someone else walking by (I guess they ignored the beep-beep-beep), so I think Lexus' approach trying to make sure the push is intentional is the correct approach.

Man. I saw the size of that manual and hid it away in my trunk. I guess I should pull it open and read it sometime. I kinda like the surprise of accidentally discovering a new feature on the car

I think discoveries are GREAT and enlightening. I unfortunately take exception with others (not you!) that first assume there is a problem or point the finger, and have not first attempted to understand what a manufacturer has provided.
