Default Slamming Down the Electric Trunk Door

Somebody was loading my trunk for me and they slammed down the trunk door before I could press the electric button.

Now I'm freaking out because I feel like he could have ruined the electronic mechanisms somehow.

What do you think?

It shouldn't harm anything. I have pulled both our suburban and the RX's electric hatches on occasion. I have never seen any adverse effects... so far.

You should be fine, just don't let it happen too often.

Guess I've done that all the time. Thinking if the door wasn't being opened or closed electrically anything done manually does no harm.

Not true?

The tailgate should be fine. I'd be more concerned if they pushed it down while it was closing under power.

I open and shut mine manually all the time because when it is opened electronically it opens to much for my garage ... no damage is done manually opening or shutting the door. If you push to button on the rear door it unlocks for manual operation; this is just a standard way for this door to work.

my RX rear gate gets more use/abuse than most. with two boys in travel sports, rear gate is open/close many times in a day. I prefer closing the gate with hand because its quicker. Time to time gate gets slammed open/close while auto mode is engaged. when that occurs, I can hear the motor "slamming" inside and it sounds like it will be last time it will work but it amaze to work again and again. when you close the gate slowly, auto mode will do the final close/lock but if you add more force it will close without the motor intervention.
