2008 RX400h potential new owner
Hey everyone!!!
I have been shopping for a crossover and saw this 2008 400h with 75k miles.
I am not new to Lexus but I am new to hybrids.
I work on my cars myself mostly. I have a couple diesel Mercedes and a pickup truck or two.
I got them down to $26,000 and I think in the next day or two we will get to my target of $25,000.
Questions:
- what do you think of the price
- will I be happy with it
- any advice before I commit?
Thanks!!

I bought mine at roughly 88k miles. I am happy, but be warned it is a different beast. I changed the timing belt, water pump at 102k miles....The price seems good, I paid $24 for mine a year ago....

Did you do the timing belt and the water pump yourself? Ability to work on it instead of having to take it to the stealership is important to me.
I have rebuilt engines and stuff...

The good thing is that Lexus/Toyota Parts are available online at a reasonable price especially with Sewell. I always purchase parts online for oil change, timing belt, water bump, etc and go to my mechanic friend's place and have him work on it or do some myself. It is a lot cheaper than going through dealer service department.

Yes I did the timing belt, water pump, and idlers myself. Takes a few steps but the good news is there isnt any removeal of alternators, external belts etc. You do have to remove the windshield wiper cowl...Really easy...The rear cam was the only thing that gave me a issue, kept moving on me..But all said and done it is a diy job.I made my own cranshaft tool which made removing the crank bolt easy...

Wow thanks for all the info guys!
The dealer is being a d*ck about the price. Yesterday they were stuck on $26k and I would like it for closer to $25k... I mean, c'mon, it's got 77k miles and already had two owners...

Is this a Lexus dealership? Maybe negoitiate any items that need attention, such as moisture in headlamps if it has any. Have them replace the lamp assembly which is worth over 1K dollars. Remember hybrids are in demand with the higher gas prices....

You are WAY overpaying. I bought a single owner 2008 with 95k mil for way lower than the prices you are looking at. All service records (ecvery 5k) were performed.
Keep in mind you can register the car on Lexus.com and get all service records using VIN
