Lexus HS250H driver's Mirror problem
Hi all.
I have a 2010 HS250H on Jordan and I've been having a problem with the driver's side mirror. I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced the same problem or has any insight. I just had it at the dealer for maintenance and I had them check it out. Of course, everything appears fine to them. Here's the issue:
When I shift the car into reverse, both mirrors auto-tilt down normally. Upon shifting to drive, both mirrors tilt back to their original position, however sometimes the drivers side mirror keeps tilting up past the original position and doesn't stop until it can't tilt any farther. I often will not notice it until I'm merging into highway traffic, look at my mirror and I'm staring at the sky.
I'd estimate I put my car in reverse a half dozen times or so a day and the problem only seems to occur twice a week at most. That said, it does occur somewhat regularly.
The advice from Lexus dealer on Jordan to replace all the Mirror.
Any Ideas?

This is not easy to diagnose even for the dealer. Did the mechanic use the Techstream software connected to your HS250h through the OBT2 connector under the steering column? The computer is needed to check for reported software problems and they should also look at all the electrical connectors going to the mirror.

Just an idea.
Maybe try adjusting your seat position and steering wheel position and your outside mirror position again and set it into one of the memory buttons and see it it still does it.
When ever you press one of those buttons, it adjusts all three things for each driver set into memory. The mirror issue might be tied in somehow.

The easiest thing to do is to wait until failure occurs consistently. I know that's not easy for some people. I find it hard to live with problems with any of my machines, but when you have an intermittent problem, waiting until failure is often the best choice. If it it were me, I would change the mirror position the tiniest amount so it's still in a position you like, and then re-save the setting in memory. You know you can disable the reverse tilt too through personalization settings.

Turn Off the Tilting Feature
This is not really fixing the problem, but to avoid spending a significant amount of cash to resolve this issue, I recommend you disable that feature in settings. You can tell the car not to tilt your mirrors when you back up. I turned it off on my car, because I just wasn't really using the feature. Good luck and honestly I love these cars!

Not sure if the cars with NAV are different, but on my 2010 HS you can disable the reverse thing by setting the mirror adjuster rocker switch to neutral (not left or right mirror).
