Default Bluetooth/Iphone handsfree connection question

Hi all -

My Iphone 3GS is paired with my GX460. Anytime I answer a call, it seems to take about 3 or 4 seconds for the person on the other end to hear me. I basically say "hello" 3 or 4 times before the caller can hear me. Anyone else have this issue?

I do believe this is a typical delay.

Same with my Blackberry and same on the 2010 Prius we have. Per my husband, you just get used to it and learn when to say Hello. . .

Ditto with my iPhone 3GS, my wife's iPhone 3G and our 2010 GX 460.

Thanks all. That stinks but I guess it's just something I'll have to learn to live with. If I'm not mistaken, my father inlaws Mercedes connects immediately without any delay. Maybe Lexus will be able to figure out a fix for this at some point...

Been the same with my 2005 GX470... I would have thought this may have been resolved with the 2010... Along the same vein... Are you guys able to TRANSFER contact info from iphone into the GX via bluetooth for the 1 touch dialing? I have to find my original Sony Ericson 610 and pair that up just to transer numbers...

I think this is a 'phone problem and not a vehicle problem.

Unless I misunderstand how wireless 'phones work, using Bluetooth with our vehicles only transfers the control of the 'phone and the audio, but not the wireless connection. If I understand this correctly, the delay is caused by the 'phone, not the vehicle. In other words, the problem will be evident whether or not you are using the vehicle's Bluetooth service, i.e., there will be a short delay when answering your wireless 'phone in all situations ... there is with mine.

Specifically, the connection with the wireless network (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc.) is via the 'phone and not the vehicle. The calls do not go in and out through the vehicle's electronics or through the vehicle's antenna. All the vehicle does is "push the buttons" and route the audio through the speakers and microphone. If anyone understands it differently, please advise and I will stand corrected.
Regards,

SaniDel

P.S. Some problems are vehicle specific. The 2006 RX 400h we traded for our GX 460 emitted a loud 'squawk' whenever I placed an outbound call through the display. I got used to telling my passengers to "cover your ears" just before hitting the 'Call' button! That problem was resolved in the GX.

Yes, but there is a limit of 1,000 contacts. I works fine with my wife's iPhone 3G, but as I have over 55 hundred contacts in my iPhone 3GS ...
