Another Wheel Upgrade Thread
Not sure why my alloy wheels blister to hell after 7 years. I've been patiently waiting for a local set of 4Runner or FJ wheels to pop up. Jumped on this set of FJ 6-Spoke with nearly new Yoko 265/70-17 tires at a great price. Finally mounted them up this past weekend. Wow! I didn't realize going from 65 series to 70 series was that obvious. Maybe it's the Yoko but side by side they look huge. Going thru full left/right steering rotation, I have about 1/2" clearance at the front. No problems in the rear. I love the beefier new set up.

Looks great, but I'm probably biased, lol.
On our truck I've calculated the odometer to read 6% low, and the speedo about the same, due to the bigger tires requiring less rotations to travel the same distance as the stock size tires.

Thanks fellas!
Alan- the bigger the tire diameter the slower it spins to achieve the same speed. So your speedometer will show less speed than you are actually doing. I verified it using GPS, and it seems like I'm only off by 1mph. No biggie.

Wow - Love the look! I think your speedometer will be off ~2mph with the 265/70. You've increased tire diameter by almost 1.2 inches. Those OEM Dunlop Grantreks and Bridgestone Duelers for the FJ were horrible, so look to replace in about 20k miles.

$50??? Upgrading to fairly new set of wheels would cost me around $300 too. Lucky guy!
