Yeah, modern vehicles are all computer-run these days. If they get poor voltage they tend to do strange things.

Just remember, voltage doesn't start the truck, amperage does. A battery can show 12V (which is low, a healthy battery typically reads somewhere between 12.5-13V with the car off) but not have the amperage to power the starter. Rapid clicking, dash lights flashing, and low voltage codes are very VERY normal of a weak battery.
