Auto windshield wiper malfunction?
Hi all,
I searched in the forums with no luck, so I'll ask here.
My auto windshield wiper function has become real sensitive...When driving in the lightest rain or even mist, my wipers start intermittently, then go faster and faster until they are going steadily, and in medium-light rain, often go to high speed. They never did this in the past, this has recently started. I turn them off, then back on and the process repeats. The auto wiper was always wonderful in the past, but not now.
Is there some kind of adjustment for this problem? Is my windshield sensor going bad?
Thanks!
Fred

Is there a stone hit on the glass anywhere near it?
Have you applied any chemicals/solutions to the glass?
Is the sensor starting to peel off the inside of the glass?

i started looking for a fuse as my intermittents didn't work and luckily i thought to check here. simply unplugged the sensor and now they work.
one note on the windshield mount, there is a metal bracket that the plastic shell clips onto. it releases with a pull out clip on the bottom. your fingernails can flick it out of both sides. the metal bracket has to be glued to the windshield first so if yours has fallen off take the metal bracket out first and glue to windshield then as double sided tape in the center of bracket before you replace the plastic housing. then lock in place with clip.
the bummer is my wife has a 2006 RX 400h and the auto wipers on it are awesome. one thing to remember is that you can control the auto speed with the intermittent speed adjuster. it works the same way, the auto will come on quicker or slower depending on where you have the setting. so if you had it on intermittents and switched it from quick to slow and then switched back to auto, the wipers will take longer to trigger because you adjusted the speed. imho, that could be a cause of some peoples problems with the wiper consistency. maybe not.

The ring that rotates adjusts the Auto feature, up is more action and down is less.
Be sure to lift the stalk to Off when going through an Auto Wash!

Hmm. I'll have to look at that. I thought it controlled the intermittent wipe interval for the rear wiper.
