Default Wind noise

08 GX wind noise is prevelant over 60 MPH. Sounds like it is coming from the front pillars, and somewhere near the passanger side rear door.

It looks like the windshield may have been replaced as there is no Lexus stamp on the glass. I looked at all the gaskets which seem to be ok.

Thoughts?

All my glass is original Lexus but I have the same wind noise in the same areas you describe. I just chalked it up to the fact it is a truck.

I agree.

One place that I would check is the plastic body panels on the doors - they are held in place with plastic clips and double-sided tape. Just pull gently on the panels to make sure they do not pull away from the body. Had that problem on the passenger front door - wind noise and some clicking sounds... Had Lexus replace the panel and hardware - the problem is gone. Did it while under the warranty...

I had my OEM glass replaced with a high quality (supposedly) non-OEM windshield and immediately noticed some increased wind noise.

Saved $800, so I can live with a little noise.

Another thing to check is the thin, black metal trim that goes around the door windows - that is known to come loose & create noises like you describe. A TSIB was released to correct the problem - basically double sided tape to secure the trim. The trim can look normal but will come away from the door when you gently pull on it. Just another thing to check and rule in or out as the source of the noise.

I too had a wind noise that was driving me crazy. I finally tracked down to a gap in one of the roof top rack footings (the rubber gasket where one of the rack feet attaches to the roof had a gap). I covered the gap with a small piece of black electrical tape (black GX) and the noise went away. I'd tried several of the things mentioned here but have never seen the solution that worked for me posted.

BTW: My noise was coming from the same spot as yours (top of side rear passenger door) and the fix was on the "rack foot" right above the passenger door.

Along that line, anyone know how to tighten the footing to get rid of that gap? The tape has been working for the last year but, if there's a more permanent solution known (not gasket sealant)...
