Hi all just noticed today that there appears to be a small camera right under the 3rd brake light. Not to be confused with the back up camera on the trunk.

Does anyone know if this a camera or a sensor and what it may be for. Perhaps an option not on my car?

The camera like lens in the square below the center/top brake light? That is the rear automatic light control sensor. It senses amount of ambient light in the back used for data to determine mirror dimming, headlights, and instrument cluster dimming

Yes that's it. Thanks for the info I always wondered how quickly dimming etc took place.
