Hello Everyone....

I own a 2006 GS430 and have noticed mounted just below the
third brake light, at the base of the rear windown, there is what
looks like a camera lens inside the center pillar of the brake light
housing.

Not to be confused with the backup camera mounted above the
rear license plate, on the back of the trunk lid.

Does anyone know what this is used for? How do I activate it?

It's not quite a camera. If memory serves me, that is the glare sensor that auto-dims/brightens the speedometer & tachometer. You set the sensitivity via the drop-down door by your left knee (where all the other buttons are hidded)
