Hey guys, I am new to this community and wanted to ask a simple question about my check engine code (P0302). I have a 2007 GS 350 with 116k miles that was driving perfect until this week. My check engine light was initially blinking but is now on solid along with the check VSC light. My question is: of the 6 cylinders (3 on the left and 3 on the right when facing the engine) which one is cylinder 2? Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I forget which bank is which side, the parts counter at the dealership should be able to tell you in a few seconds though so I suggest calling them up.

When was the last time you had spark plugs replaced?

Cylinder 1 is closest to you from the front of the car. (passenger side). Cylinder 2 is closest to you on the right side (drivers side) facing toward the front of the car. Unfortunately... you have to pull the intake manifold off cause cylinder 2 is under the manifold. Thats if you are replacing the ignition coil? (90919-a2005)

Since getting the car last year (I am the second owner) I have not replaced the spark plugs til today. I replaced all the spark plugs and the coil on cylinder 2 with OEM parts from sewell. It took me about 1.5 hrs to complete the job. Now I just need to find a way to clear the VSC and check engine lights.

If one of the parts you replaced was indeed the problem it will clear itself after a few drive cycles. If it never clears itself then you just threw parts at it. Any code reader will clear the codes, or most generic car parts stores will use their reader to clear codes for you if you stop in and ask.

Congratulations on doing the work yourself, I wouldn't have bothered but it's freezing cold up this way. :P

After driving it around for about 5 or 6 trips, the check engine light started to blink again with the vs. light on as well. The car started shaking hard when i accelerated over 40mph. I pulled over and turn the car off for 2 mins. I started it back up and all the lights have cleared and it drives smoothly now.

I don't know if that's a good sign or not (probably not), keep driving it and monitor the situation.

The blinking CEL means the engine was misfiring hard again regardless of your work. If I were you I would get a code reader that is capable of monitoring fuel trim values, you can easily put together such a thing with a cheap bluetooth OBDII adapter and Torque Pro for Android. You can then connect to the car and actually record and graph these variables as you drive around and analyze how the car was behaving afterwards.

Fuel trim will help give you an idea if you have fuel injector, air/fuel ratio or vacuum leak issues which can all lead to misfires as well. It will be particularly obvious if your trims are way different from one bank to the other.
