uhh oh....
i was driving and my check engine light went back on... after taking it to the shop to get the vaccumm leak taken care of and the light off i drive off for approx 200 miles and it came back on i ignored it for a few days and i noticed last night the oil light came on and turned off.. this was a red flag for me as i am too familiar with that light. i pulled over inspected the dipstick to see that my car has no oil in it... can it be burning oil? i just bought the car a few weeks back and it was running fine the motor showed no signs of oil leaks it. theres no smoke when i filled the car with oil and revved it up. what could this problem be? help guys i never owned a lexus nor a toyota so im not sure what to look for the car has approx 174k miles is there any thing i can do on my own other than spend a gang load of money to get it looked at and fixed?

I've never had issues with oil burning, and I've got 282k miles on my GS3. I know firsthand that leaks are very common, I would get under the car and look for drips just to be sure. Otherwise, inspect the PCV valve and make sure it isn't gummed up, that can sometimes cause oil burning. Aside from that, the problems will be more serious like bad piston rings or valve seals.

maybe your car gets too excited and squirts lol =p no, our car does not burn oil as trevstuh stated. if it does, then something is definitely wrong. why not go to autozone and have a free CEL check. as for the oil, get another oil change somewhere else and ask them what could cause this... loose filter? previous tech didn't put in enough oil or put in too much.. it's only $30 in CA so i'm sure you rather pay that than taking it to the stealership.
