The other day I hit 100mph for the first time since own ('90 ls400 with 120k miles) the oil light came up. when i slowed it down to 80mph, oil light went off.

That's the little light that says, "slow down or I will shut you down!!"
Dude, seriously, that is just too fast to be driving safely. Check your oil as well to make sure you are full.

Well guys yes those are all things buttt there is another problem that ive had
When i went 75+ i had a problem but it also was at a bit higher speed ie 90+ where the light would comeon for low oil lvl. Granted my oil was a little bit low....
Anyways after changing the oil, it still did it :[ turned out to be the sensor was bad. And its a very very very expensive part.

thanks guys i will check oil level again
yeah, its unsafe i know especially at night time, it was the first time since i bought the car 2 years ago. i was able to hit that speed in a long, straight and almost no traffic highway. would be able to do more but it was the max speed of a 1994 Land Cruiser 200-300 m in front. the car is still very stable at that speed. I was still able to see the cluster and thus notice the oil light lit up

First thing you should have done is checked the oil... rather than have us tell you to check it
If oil level is good I think you have a bigger fish on your plate

Your oil level is low but probably not by that much.
If you think about it, when driving THAT FAST, engine RPMs are way up so more oil is being sucked up from the pan than gravity can return it. Less oil in the pan, light comes on. When you slowed down, RPMs went down, less oil being sucked up and giving gravity a little more time to return the oil back to the pan. More oil in the pan, light goes off.
Simple physics. Add more oil and you should be good up to 120.

so revving in neutral and holding around 5000rpm+ will give the same issue.
which doesnt make sense because at 100mph the LS, my 2nd gen at least is ~4000rpm or less, depending on what gear i keep it in.

if that was true then anytime you are at a high RPM you would have the same problem.

Mine has the same problem, at 80+mph, the low oil level light comes on, for say........15 seconds, and then it turns back off, it's rather intermittent.
I really hope it's not the oil level sensor, as hobojoe said it was a very expensive part.

The wifes car has had the oil light come on at times and its been just a little low(less than half qt.)Fill it up and its fine.It does come on once in a while but, I don't worry about it because the car uses very little oil. The 1st generation LS has become a disposible car,250,000 and she can't kill it.People bang into her and have all but bought the car for us,still looks good. I do wish it held more oil, like the benz.
