irregular acceleration
Sometimes RPMs drop downhill when I am going over 65 mph. Car also jumps after not responding to the gas pedal for about a half second or a second. Choppy acceleration during city driving.
Is this a spark plug issue?

uh oh you have a bad case of the broken toyota accelerator!! lol...JK...but Im not sure. I know sometimes my car responds strangely but i figure its just cause its getting old. But if you never changed you spark plugs and ignition wires I would do it just as a precautionary move to stop other problems from occurring.

mine is doing the same thing....im leaning more to the accelerator sensor...as it still work .. but when it get to the point that is bad.. then ur light will come on... if spark plug is bad... usually it will miss fire at low rpm, but it can do it at high rpm......have the engine light come on? also i would hook up a obd2 tester.... even if the check engine light dont come on... read the freeze data. sometime is will hold a data of what ur car is acting...it might have it store.. it mite not....these are tips...im just trying to give you option what you can do...

mines a bit lame like that too, it is a bit of a trait of the accelerator system on the GS's from what i gather.
i am also going to try getting my gearbox fluid changed next service to see if it helps the issue...

My last scheduled maintenance was done at 90k, now at 116. Have another coming up at 120k. How often does it need changing? Is trans fluid an easy DIY if its not on the 120k schedule?
Happens more during cold.
Thanks for the advice - it's dusty here as well, maybe air filter?

Happens to me during cold also. When I'm going down hill the car goes all the way to 3k rpms won't shift until you're almost down hill. But when the car is at normal operating temperature it doesn't happen. So I think it's normal. I think it takes the tranny takes up a longer time to get to it's normal operating temperature comparing to the engine.
I change the atf fluid after every 3 oil changes with toyota type iv.
