Question Replacing rotors.... again

Ok so I'm at 34,xxx miles and my service advisor said my front brakes and rotors need to be replaced again and quoted around $500. I replaced them already at a little under 20,000 miles. I know they are "high performance" rotors but really? Seems a little frequent to me. Any thoughts?

Are you feeling anything out of ordinary? Brake fad, noise, vibration when braking (wrap rotors)? If not then don't do anything until the brake pads are less than 30% wear. I have 28,000 miles on my GS F-sport and my brakes and rotors are still good. More than 80% brake pad depth.

Stealership move. Don't fall for it. They tried to get my wife with her 3 gs couple years ago. Only change if they are warped. Rotors can be adjusted.

Nope, no fade, noise, vibration, nothing. I'll ride on these until they screech like a banshee then I guess lol.

OEM rotors can be shaved at least once or twice. Don't fall for the scam.

Go back to them and tell them, they should replacement it for you under warranty. At 30k miles, those parts should not wear that quickly... Or complain about clicking noise when turning and it should be covered under TSB.

Wow, replacing twice in less than 35K? That seem excessive. Unless you are riding the brakes constantly, or constantly applying full pressure to stop, emergency stops for instance. Even then, that still seems a little over the top. Truly sounds like a money grab.

Looks like you are in South Florida. Have you gotten a second opinion from another dealer?

In my experience Lexus has very conservative guidelines about when they should replace things like brake pads. I've gotten as much as 10-15k more life out of brakes after they told me they had to be replaced.

I've also had them tell me I need new tires when the tires are 1/2 way through.

I changed the original brake pads on my SC400 at about 80,000 miles.
