Things to look for when buying used GS
Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask the other members here what things I should be looking out for when considering purchasing a GS. I know the basic things in terms of buying cars in general, but are there any specific things with this vehicle that I should be looking out for. Thank you everybody and look forward to your advice.

1.Check for transmission issues-Make sure it shifts into overdrive
2.Check to make sure all of the windows work.-When I bought my GS 2 of the 4 were not working.
3.Check the window trim around the front doors-Most of these cars have damaged window trim and it can be pricey to replace them.
4.Most of these cars have gauge clusters that a not completely functional-Needles don't all light up or there are spots that are dark. It can be repaired.
5.Most of the 1st Gens I looked at have a lot of wear in the leather on the front seats.

I would also check the trunk for moisture, water in either side of the trunk is a big issue and the seal is expensive. sometimes the drain tubes for the sunroof can pull out of their holders and fill up and ruin your cars amplifier which is on the right hand side. mine had four inches of water on that side with the amplifier sitting in water up to its side.
making sure all four door speakers work is a small issue to do with wiring in the doors being extended and broken with age.
And the only other thing I could say is to check the motor for obvious oil wetness anywhere, oil dripping. you could see how the tie rod ends and balljoints look if you turn the wheels to lock and climb underneath, look for broken boots or looseness.

Alot has been covered that I can't really add to than besides...
Check the oil for water and check the coolant for oil an obvious sign of a bad head gasket.
Get the car up to temp and check the heat and AC.
When driving it listen for knocking. A sign of pre detonation.
Obviously check the brakes
