Default DIY 60k service

I saw a guide for the spark plugs somewhere on the forums. Looks like a fairly straightforward job. Dealer said the complete service was in the $700 range. Amazon sells the oem NGK plugs for $18 each. Anything unique with swapping the brake fluid? I was planning on using ATE TYP200 DOT4. Anyone done it who could report with any problems or tense moments during the job? I always have this fear of the spark plugs coming apart in the head. The plugs should come out easy with only 60k, right?

$700 just seemed outrageous for basically a oil change, oil, air and ac filters, brake fluid swap, and new spark plugs. ($195 and a couple of hours if diy)!

Post up if/when you knock out this service. Curious to hear your thoughts.

Off topic, mind saying who you are "driving" for? My daily driver is a FA-50 but looking to move up.

I'll let y'all know how it goes. Probably won't be until the fall.

As far as "other" daily drivers, the single seat stuff must be fun in your FA-50, (if it's the Golden Eagle you're referring to), or if it's the Falcon 50, I've always wanted a third engine 😉! The 737's I operate all belong to Southwest Airlines.

Have not changed spark plugs on this car, but did it on another and it was super easy. I would not pay someone to do it, unless there is something that makes it far more difficult on this car. I don't know what could possibly make that job difficult. Haven't looked at it yet myself.

May want to go over to the 3GS forum and have a look around. I don't know this for a fact, but I would guess that the process is similar or identical.

My 60K service is due. I'd really appreciate it if someone linked to guide. I've checked the 3GS forums with no luck Scoured the broader internet and still no DIY Spark plug replacement guide for the 2GR-FSE. If we're lucky someone will have made something as descriptive as this 2GR-FE Rav4 write up over HERE, but life isn't so easy.

Looking like the dealership is the best person to do this job? Say it ain't so.

There's no way I'd go to the dealership for spark plugs if I wasn't going to do it myself. I can't imagine how much they charge for this simple task. Then again, I trust my independent mechanic. If you're not going to do it yourself, find an independent mechanic you trust, that's my opinion. I guess some people like to stick to the dealer for everything, though.

I did spark plugs on my 2003 BMW 540, all you did was take off the engine covers, remove the coil packs (not sure if this car has them or not), and remove the spark plugs with spark plug wrench. Put a little grease on the threads of new spark plugs, reverse the process. It was super simple (although I did have to clean out oil that had leaked from a faulty gasket in that car, doubt that will be an issue with our GSs). I guess it would be nice to have proper torque specs, etc. for replacing plugs, which I obviously cannot provide but a guide could if someone has it.

I just looked at the link you posted and I can see why you might be hesitant if our car requires as much disassembly as that one to access one of the banks. If it doesn't require any crazy disassembly like that, it will be very straightforward. Why not take off your engine cover and see how accessible things are?

In case you want a link direct to the thread that 737Driver mentioned, here it is: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...g-service.html

Not sure why his post came across as an attachment. Regardless, pretty straightforward process. I haven't done it on my Lexus yet, but I've done it myself on all my cars in the past.
