Auto open buttons for trunk don't work-gs350
Hi
ive had this problem happen to me before and it's because someone slammed my trunk shut instead of letting the gear slowly close it. Last time my mechanic friend fixed it, I need to know how to fix it so I don't have to use key to open every time. I have a 2007 gs350. I've already checked the valet button, I'm pretty sure my boyfriend shut it too hard and that's why the in dash button and my key button won't open the trunk. Please help, I'm pretty car savvy when it comes to repairs so if someone could just give me some options on what to do that would be great! Thanks

^subscribed for a fix as well...
In the meantime, if you need, try hitting the open button on the keyless remote and opening the trunk at the same time. Once it's opened, to get rid of the dash light, try closing the trunk slowly, and once it's closed, put some weight on it until you hear the gears catch and pull the trunk closed. Then you won't have the dash warning on.

thanks for the info but I don't have a warning on my dash. I tried disconnecting the neg in my battery last night for 15 sec and it did not reset anything to make it work. When I have the trunk open and I lower it to close, the gears still catch it and lower it the rest of the way for me. Just none of the buttons inside or on my key will open it. Even checked the fuse which is fine. I'm trying to do everything before I call the dealership. Please help anyone who has any other tricks.
thanks

There is a switch in the glove compartment on the left side that will cancel the trunk open switch and the remote trunk open. It is a valet switch that is not accessible when the glove compartment is locked with the key. Check that this switch has not been pressed. Look at page 48 in your owner's manual if you have it. If you don't have an owner's manual you can get it from Lexus at http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do...f/OM30822U.pdf. Hope this solves your problem.

trunk not opening via key or button on gs350
yea I tried that first and it's not the valet switch. I also looked at the fuse, and unhooked my battery for 15 sec to reset the computer, didn't fix it. Read every page in the manual that had the trunk mentioned, nothing is fixing it. The motor still lowers it down slowly to fully shut it, it just doesn't open it or make any beeping sounds. Should I unplug the ecu from wire harness and then plug back in?
