07' 350 low beam intermittent. thoughts?
Had car for a week. Seems to be solid.
Noticed that the drivers-side low beam doesn't come right on always...but after a few flicks of the headlight switch it flicks and stutters on. When its finally on, after bout 5-10 minutes of being on...it goes out. When i turn lights off and then on again it'll come back on.
Replaced both bulbs with oem philips 4300k. Noticed that ignitor on drivers side has been replaced with a plastic unit. Clearly not OEM. Hmmmm wonder what happened to original. Looked up a few videos on this that say that when this issue occurs it could be a ground issue and to not replace the ballast/ igniter assembly immediately as it might not be culprit.
Anyone had this issue on their 3GS? Thoughts? Should i just replace ballast / ignitor assembly on drivers side with a new one?
Yes I searched.

It's not impossible that whoever installed the aftermarket ballast didn't wire it up properly, causing a ground issue. But it's also not unlikely that the aftermarket ballast itself is going bad. May also be worth checking the output of the ballast to see if the voltage is low or fluctuating a lot. If it were me, I'd probably replace the aftermarket unit with an OEM ballast

Did it work?
I just bought my 2007 GS 350 about a week ago as well. It has 72k on it, and it is doing the exact same thing that you describe in this thread.
Did you find the issue?

the lesson was:
A new OEM Toyota HID bulb is a fortune...but potentially worth it for the fact that it'll be 100% perfect. one of the bulbs I bought is working fine but is slightly more blue than the other. but only slightly. almost not noticeable.
Be sure to swap the bulbs from side to side to see if there is a difference. Embarrassingly enough, I didn't do this. Wasted a few hours and 120 bucks on a ballast. sigh.

The Toshiba's are an excellent option for anyone else who wants to skip on the Phillips due to quality/fake issues. Had this exact problem a week ago and replaced it with the Toshiba's, which are actually replacing the Phillips from oe now on newer cars. Both lights have performed excellently since then.
