Inspecting and cleaning speed sensor rotor
Does anyone have any DIY or guidance on inspecting the abs speed sensor rotor inside the bearing inner race? I'm suspecting this to be the issue after getting a dtc code 78 during the test mode procedure. Code points to the rear left sensor rotor that's triggering the code. Apparently these are sealed and part of the axle hub assembly. Thx!

Thanks - I'm actually looking for the rear speed sensor rotor that's sealed within the axle hub...
But i do need to remove the sensor anyway.... These are very tight in the knuckle hole! Any tips on how to remove them easily anyone?

If it's a sealed unit, most likely you'll have to change the hub and bearing assembly, they're not really designed to come apart. There are some designs that you can remove the sensor and take a look down into the assembly and see the tone wheel...perhaps fit a magnet in there and remove some rust chips that may interfere with the signal, but it sounds like that's not an option.

That may be worth a try....looking down from the sensor hole, I am not sure what I'm looking at....Not sure if the tone ring is directly below the tip of the sensor or sideways (90 degs) to it?

Please note that one should never use a magnet and get it close to magnetic encoders! Just wanna share the findings from my research. I think I'll try to remove the rear dust cap to reveal the encoders and brush with a soft nylon brush. Does anyone know how to easily remove the dust cap without removing the hub?
