2006 lexus gs300 check engine light trouble
whats up guys i have a 2006 lexus gs300 rwd and my check engine light came on the code P0021 and the check VSC light is on as well and a knocking noise i checked my engine level and seems to be fine but thats just because im always adding oil since its burning a quart every 500 miles which is a lot so whats going on here? has anyone had this problem? also my idle seems to drop when at a light any one know about recalls on these cars? please help me out! are you using the correct oil grade (5w30) could be a vvt oil solenoid failing or clogging up. but with the knocking sound maybe the intake cam gear is failing there was a recall for those. on cold starts a knocking noise can be heard for the first few seconds.
Your other issue with oil burning has been well documented. recall has expired for this to replace piston rings valve springs/ seals
With the idle issue could be due to the oil burning and carbon build up. temporary fix for this is to perform some sort of decarbonizing of the intake valves and piston top either by chemical and/or walnut blasting
Check your vin# on the lexus website or local dealer to see what recalls has been done to your vehicle

my car is at the dealer now and they said these year gs are known for burning oil but dont know the cause? that doesnt make sense im sure they clearly know what the issue is just dont want to fix it

+1 on the oil viscosity and possible clogging of the ocv filter. And yes, they know why your car is burning oil

thanks man thats exactly whats happening to it im trying to see if they can get that fixed without charging me an arm and a leg
