Akebono pads are very dustless, if you drive for a week it will be covered in very light dust color which isnt even that noticable. Where oem or the red stuff pads i got know every day or 2 looks like a mercedes with oem pads. The squealing sound you get would be the shim kit. I had my oem shim kit on akebono's and at end of its life it started squealing because of the shim kit. I suggest using the kem akebeno shim kit thats already on it.

The best pads for your Lexus is OEM, Akebono are great for dust but they don't give you the stopping distance, check out their rating at tire rack, they are rated 2 out 5, OEM you can never go wrong, you get the dust but better safe than sorry

brake question
2008 GS; 48k miles, currently on 3rd set of front brakes. Most recent set was replaced due to the squeal at low speeds. There are producing no squeals and very low dust, but when applied at 70+ mph I feel a "groaning" when applied. The car stops straight and no wobble in the wheel. I wish I could describe better, but its sounds like their is excessive friction. Also, after being washed (once a week) the braking at high speeds is very smooth, but then the problem comes back. Any opions?

sounds like your rotors are the problem.

i went with ebc red stuff, i was going to go with akebono but i dont like the idea of less stopping power. plus i found the set online for 150+ shipped. i think it was like 10 or 15% off at another website.autoshephard.com theres a discount on all ebc products.. ill try these out this time. i do have another question though, what service does my car need at 60k miles?
