auto headlight timer
Does anyone know how to adjust the amount of time it takes for the head lights to shut off when it is in auto mode. My headlights are set to 30 seconds or until I push the alarm. I would like to set it so it will turn off as soon as I open the door. The owners manual said to ask the dealer for shorter settings.
Thanks
Tony

Hey myGS. When you went into the movies did you leave anything open? The reason why I sked is because one day when I had alot of time on my hands, I went out and tried all the new things I learned from CL. Anyways, I left the windows down on purpose and guess what the frickin' lights never went off. Then I rolled the windows back up and viola the lights went off right on que. I think if I'm not mistaken if you leave anything open i.e. the trunk accidentally or even the moon roof, your lights will stay on. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Just my experience though. Later.

The lights may stay on if you turn the car BACK ON and then back off. It also works with the LAST DOOR closure of your car (doors, trunk etc).
As a rule of thumb, as long as you lock your car through your factory remote, the lights will shut off (I have my aftermarket alarm hooked up to arm the factory system, so if I arm my aftermarket system, it does the same)

That is why I am hesitant on using the auto headlight feature beacause I thought maybe it would drain the battery. I guess I ll go into the dealership and have it adjusted. I just hate going to the dealership they charge for everything.
It kind of sucks when you pull into the garage and you get out but the headlights are still on, but you dont want to turn on the alarm inside the garage to turn off the headlights and wake the family.
Thanks guys for responding.

As far as I know, the lights will only STAY on after the usual stay on time (e.g., 30 seconds) if you leave something open like the trunk or a door. You don't have to lock it for them to go off.
When I arrive home in the evening, I drive into the garage, turn off the engine, get out, don't lock it, and go in the house. The lights are on as I enter the house, but they go off after a short time (30 seconds I guess). But if I left a car door open or the trunk, the lights DON'T go off.

just hit lock twice, that will solve your problem, but I noticed that if you try to lock the car with the key ( even if you hit it twice ) and the trunk is open the headlights wont go off and that anoying BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP sound wont turn on. I thought that was interesting
