Default ES 350 2014 issue

Hello, i just bought my ES350.Every time i start my car, i get a message on my dash "checking system" for about the first 5-6 seconds. Is this normal? Another issue I have, might not really be an issue, but i hear a noise that something is rubbing when i'm turning my steering wheel when the car is parked. When i turn it slowly, i hear no noise. Has anyone experienced this strange sound?

Checking System means just that - it is checking all the systems - and it will always appear on startup.

Do you mean the rubbing while turning while parked is just like the tires turning on the concrete or do you mean something like the steering wheel is rubbing?

I think you will like your new car.

the turning noise appears to be normal. I hear it as well. It only comes on when I turn quickly. For example when i reverse and then go to drive and turn fast i hear it.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for contacting me, of course I like my car. This is my first Lexus.
Is that correct that "system checking" icon is always came up when start the engine.?
About the steering noise:It does not like the tires on the concrete, it is like steering wheel is rubbing,
but I have no noise if I turn the steering wheel slowly or during I am driving.

Thanks,
Oleg.

From page 105 of the manual:
■System check display
After turning the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch to IGNITION ON
<ON> mode, “SYSTEM CHECK” is displayed while system operation is checked.

No worries, just thought it might provide confidence/peace of mind to know it was in the book.
