Default Help removing interior piece (B-pillar?) please.

This rattle by my left ear (driver's side) is driving me crazy so I've decided to remove this piece that holds the seat belt mechanism but I can't quite figure out how to proceed without risking damage. Should I just pull & pray or if the other pieces (lower trim, scuff plates) need to be removed as I seem to remember seeing a TSB on another Lexus make (GS?) that eluded to the latter.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA!

they pop off easily, start at scruff plate and work way up, notice 2 bolts on upper garnish . I foamed the inside of the adjuster to minimize that rattle

Did it work?

So the scuff plates pull up and pop off, ditto with the lower pillar trim then 2 screws and a pull on the upper pillar trim, right?

Cheers!

How you foamed the inside? Does it work?

As i remember in the past, the only part on the B pillar that takes knocking noise when hitting bumps is the plastic part that can be seen from the outside of the B piilar, no need to open the pillar. The part is the one that you have to press to adjust the height of the seat belt. For the part to move, i has to slide, so a little play makes it knock.

I've tried inserting a thin foam or felt to reduce the play and yes it does stop the knocking, but you impair the sliding mechanism, so it's a trade off. Unless you can find a very thin piece of felt and use double sided tape, it can be done and you need only a very very small piece of felt, i mean in the milimeters. The point is to make the mechanism slide freely , but prevent it to hitting each other.

So i left it alone and live with it, mine doesn't make a lot of noise.
