You have a couple of possible spots where oil can be leaking. Valve cover gasket (backside near firewall), camshaft oil seal, power steering pump, or head gasket (which I doubt, but you never know). With oil leaks look for the highest point you see oil leaking, replace, clean, and work your way down.

had a chance to get under it and found bone dry, nothing wet or any sign of oil. went ahead and changed oil. nothing of the top side of the plastic shield. now i am wondering if i had a spot of oil on the floor and the water dripped on it. nothing seems to come from it now. stays clean under the car on the driveway. still getting close to time to change timing belt and water pump. thanks for the reply's.

When you do timing belt replacement, replace camshaft oil seals, crankshaft oil seal, water pump. I recommend factory parts. I'm curious though where the oil was coming from...

i too am curious because there was another spot on the floor. looks like about four or five drops of oil mixed with half a shot glass of clear water. i am getting tires rotated today and it will be up on a rack. i should get a good look underneath of it today.
