Starter for 2000 Es? Help
#16
Remove negative post on battery, remove starter. Three bolts hold a somewhat triangular cap. Pull it apart, it does so easily. You will see the plunger and two copper contacts. Pull the plunger out and it will have a large spring that slides right off. Most of your issues will be with the copper contacts. Look at them. Are they dull and rusty looking? Easy fix ! Get some sandpaper and get them nice and shiny. Spray electrical cleaner on them, the plunger and wipe clean. Let dry and re assemble and you're done. Re use the gasket, it's pretty tough. You can double check results by jumping starter before you replace it back on the car.

Do all starters for our cars come with the solenoid built in? Or is that seperate?
I went ahead and ordered the DENSO 2800174 **#2810003100, 2810074260} Reman from RockAuto the other day. Amazon didn't offer the Core deal so it comes out cheaper once I send the old one back. I figured "****** it" let me just get the whole starter and not mess around with little parts.
