Default 2004 ES330 outside temperature display

I recently bought a 2004 ES330. We love the car, but we noticed that the outside temp display only displays double bars. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset this or could it be a sensor problem? Anyone know where the sensor is located on this model?

Thanks in advance,
Stirling

It is located on the back of the bumper reinforcement bar on the left hand side. Remove the sensor and check resistance. If it has infinate resistance, then the sensor is bad.

It should be under the reinforcment, under the Keystone can.

Thanks for the info. By infinite resistance do you mean that my ohm meter will peg out when I test it? I'm not the sharpest knife in the block... Also do you know if this is a Lexus only part or if it may be available at a parts store? I appreciate all of your help...

Thanks!

If using a digital Ohm meter, It would likely read OL"Out of limit". It is a Lexus only part, but good thing is that its only about $20

Wanted to let you know I fixed the problem. Turns out there was a broken wire in the wiring harness where it splits off to the sensor. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...

Thanks Again!

Default ES 330 Temperature Sensor

My wife's 2004 ES 330 outside temperature reading does not display, only 2 dashes. I've located the sensor behind the front bumper. Lexus dealer says they hardly ever see these sensors go bad. How do I check to see if it is good/defective or could I have a wiring issue?
