Default What's the longest your car battery lasted?

I have 95 LS400 with one previous owner. The battery is now acting up and needs a jump...I looked at the battery and it's a Lexus battery from Torrance Calif...either the previous always took his car to Lexus for his batteries or this is the original battery in the car/making it a 12yr old battery.

Battery are cheap and it's good rule of thumb to change them out every 5 year. I change mine every 5 year as preventive measure so I don't really know exactly how long they can actually last.

Good advice there.

I had a friends 14 year old original Honda battery explode when he started it. Those labels on them don't lie.

I think my longest lasting battery might be only 3 or 4 years. I haven't owned a car for longer than 5 years yet, and I had to change batteries at least once in every car I've owned so far.

6 years with factory Lexus battery. It was still working but I was getting nervous so I changed it so I did not end up with it dead somewhere away from home.

I just recently changed my battery 1 year ago and this is my third battery in 14 years, so I average about 6-7 years per battery.
