I'm also going to change those rear door moldings identical to the 08s with Hybrid emblem on them too
make sure they color match before painting, if they just use factory color
without matching, it might look a bit off being the spoiler have fresh paint and the body have a tad weather or faded color.
Remove back door trim board.
Remove back window panel trim.
Remove back door trim cover, left and right.
Remove bolts.
Good luck.
The whole job was done in less than 30 min.
1. Open the rear gate
2. remove the trim cover for the linkage to open/close the rear gate(on the left-hand) by pulling it out.
2. Remove the top trim cover by pulling it out HARD. There are multiple clippers and I pulled right hand side out first then middle then the left. They are all intact.
3. Remove two black plastic covers that covers the screws holes next to the rear gate cylinders. one each left and right!
4. unscrew total 5 screws holding the spoiler. 10mm socket will do the trick.
5. unplug the brake light connector!
6. Close the gate
7. Pull the spoiler upward. my dad helped me on this so we stood at each side of car and pulled upward! I tabbed it a bit and it became loose rather easy.
Installation is in reverse order.
All in all, it's NOT difficult at all. SHAME on the dealer who quoted my parents over $1000 for replace the whole assembly!
I happened to have extra spoiler with brake light in good condition with very minor imperfection. PM me if you are interested.
