Default Additional keys

I took delivery of my new GS 300 last week. Mine came with two keys. However, in the 'Owners Manual Supplement' on page 8 it mentions that it comes with two master keys, a valet key and a key card designed to be kept in a purse or wallet.

Did anyone get more than two key with theirs?

I only recieved two fobs/master keys, also. However, In 2000 when we picked up our RX 300 we got 2 master keys, 1 valet/ service key, and a credit card key.

The creditcard key should theoreticly no longer be needed since the car should never lock with your keys inside. All the credit card key did was unlock the door did not work for ignition.

The Valet key didn't have any of the buttons on it like the master keys and didn't open the glove box I dont think. Not having this key pesents an interesting issue... give you master key to the valet .

I think what you would do for a valet is remove your mechanical key from the electronic key and give the valet your electronic key. Turn off the trunk switch, lock the glove box and the valet can't access the trunk or glove box without the mechanical key.

Doesn't the valet key nest within the FOB? I thought I saw a picture of it being pulled out.

The key that rest within the FOB is the mechanical key. That is the key you would keep and give the valet the FOB.

I have to agree with bigzip here since if you hand the valet your metal key which nest it the FOB the valet will have access to what ever he/she so pleases. Once you lock up the trunk passway, hit the switch in the glove box and lock that the fob can no longer get into the trunk.

I should have clarified myself. This issue is the valet will not have any thing to hang the key with unless you give him the whole thing, whichs lead back to the above scenario. Giving the valet the FOB alone will be a sure way it gets lost. In this case I would rather be handing over a "valet FOB" which wouldn't have all the power the master FOB does and can be hung up. Hope that is clearer. Just my 5 cents on the issue

Good point! I'm surprised the Lexus engineers didn't think of that.

And what ever you new GS owners do please do not loose that key/transmitter because it will cost you $1000 dollars for a new one programmed. Now that's an expensive key
