By now, you’ve probably seen Lexus’ RC from every angle possible. If you haven’t you can get a good look at it here. Style is important and everything… But what about the substance?
So I’ve seen a 2000GT in person exactly three times–until I spotted this mustard yellow one in the parking lot of the Tokyo Big Site. It’s arguably the most beautiful car ever produced in Japan, and at 1.2 million, holds the record for most expensive Asian car sold at action.
Yup, I’ve had worse days. Everyone on the Toyota Global Media Tour had to scramble thought the train station like a crazy people to make the bullet train to Nagoya, but before that I had a few minutes in the morning to check out a life-size mecha statue, which was pretty bad ass.
There are plenty of things that are different about Japan. Like good luck finding a trash can. Being in Tokyo is like camping–pack it in, pack it out. At this point, every member of the party has spend half a day hauling around an empty can of something purchased from a vending machine.
Monday night, the press travelling with Lexus got a chance to see the RC and the LF-NX at Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Stadium, but lighting wise, it was easier to get pics while they were in the booth at the show.
The schedule in Japan has been fairly tight, and um, really, really long. I’ve been meeting up with the Lexus folks and the press gang in the lobby at about quarter to eight, and we generally get back to the hotel sometime after nine.
On Monday, the press gang spent the Day out at Fuji Speedway with the LFA Nürburgring Edition, CCS-R and I SF, which was even cooler than it sounds, but since there’s video and images coming, I’ll write more on that later. After we left the track, we headed to Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Stadium for the Lexus Tokyo Motor Show welcome event.
