Lexus RC-F

A Muscle car powered by a strong V-8 engine is an American tradition. This hasn't stopped the Japanese from joining the game, as they have with the Lexus RC F.

Engine

The RC F is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine cranking 467 horsepower. Fuel economy is listed at 16/25 mpg. The claimed 0-60 mph time is claimed to be 4.4 seconds, which is what we observed.

Model

In order to separate the RC F from the weaker V6 and four-cylinder RCs, a large F emblem is posted on the outside body so onlookers will know what you are driving. This, of course, is accompanied by the more aggressive styling features to help distinguish the sports car.

Gearbox

The transmission is an 8-speed automatic, but paddle shifters are on the steering wheel for those who want to choose gears manually.

Exhaust

The large quad exhaust pipes are another way of showing onlookers there is a V8 under the hood. At low speeds the system is quiet, but as engine rpm's run high, the sound follows.

Interior

The RC F has rear seats, but legroom is limited. Most likely occupants would be small children.

Cargo space

The trunk space is limited at 10 cubic feet. As a result, no spare tire is supplied, just a tire repair kit.

RC-F

With a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds, excellent handling, strong brakes, and loud exhaust, the RC F certainly can compete with American muscle cars on the street. But with a base price of $64,850 and a tab of $81,495 with all options as seen here, the cost of admission is not cheap. Fortunately, the quality is high, and reliability is proven.
