1. The Letter F

Not all car enthusiasts can appreciate the letter "F" as much as Lexus enthusiasts and engineers. The famous letter represents the word "flagship," and it refers to Fuji Speedway, which is the official test track for Lexus. The extremely-desired letter is found on Lexus models that are notorious for their speed, precision, innovation, and most importantly, technological progression.

2. The F Project

After dreaming of creating a vehicle that is more capable than any other car on the market, Lexus engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi came up with the Lexus F Project. Starting with the Lexus IS F prototype that he built, the project grabbed the attention of the engineers and the executives. Yaguchi says that the inspiration came when he wanted to build new Lexus ideals, which would focus on steering response, exhaust sound, and acceleration.

3. Lexus RC F

After gaining tremendous traction with the IS F, the team was officially under a lot of pressure with the RC F, simply because the expectations couldn't be higher. Yaguchi knew the team had to create something far more superior than the IS F prototype, and to do that, they had to widen their imaginations. The RC F was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show, and the powerful 5.0-liter V-8 engine that delivered 450-horsepower was exactly what the "F" letter represented.

4. The Innovative Capabilities

The RC F is announced as the most powerful in the Lexus line up, and the innovation doesn't stop with just a big motor. The RC F comes with a torque-vectoring differential, which is the first in the world for a front engine and a rear-wheel drive vehicle which is exactly what Yaguchi had set out to do. This technology increases the traction and stability, which makes for a much more pleasureful drive.

5. A Dream Come True

The inspiration was to create a vehicle that outperforms its competitors while providing a fun driving experience. With the advanced suspension and aerodynamic packaging, the RC F is a clear image of what Yaguchi had painted in his head. “This car is purpose-built for the skill level of all driving enthusiasts, especially with the TVD,” says, Yaguchi, “with this car, you can cruise through town, but you can also have fun on a circuit if you’re into that sort of thing,” he continued.
