Default MB offset

hey guys, im sorry to be asking this here in the Lexus forums, it's just that i'm tired of searching everywhere on the net just to find the offsets of my dad's '91 MB 500SL, he's planning on getting staggered 19s, so im just wondering if anyone here knows the offsets he should get? and again im sorry for asking this here, i didn't want to sign up for the benz forums just for this question....thanks for the help

The early SL (Mercedes R129 chassis code) is a "low offset" car.
This means you can get a nice fat lip if you stagger the widths.

Here's what I would suggest:

19x8.5: +15 to +22 (I would recommend around a +20 offset to keep the tire from hitting the fender arch during turns where the suspension becomes compressed). Use 245/35-19

19x10: +18 to +24. Use 275/30-19 or 285/30-19

The car will take a 19x9 and 19x11 pretty easily, too- but you will need a custom-built wheel for this.
