Default Offset questions

Hello all,
First off, how do you determine offset for rims? I don't understand offsetting, I'm new to the game. I'm planning on getting 20x8.5 F and 20x8.5 rear, and I want to find out how much of an offset I can get with a few inches dropped, 2-3 inches possibly. So if anyone can give me some insite, or words to search for or what not, that would be very greatful.

If I were you I would definitely go for a staggered setup. And the offset depends on what type of fitment you want. Most of the time a +30 offset will get you pretty flush in the rear, but i'm not sure with the 8.5" back. Most people don't go that thin.

i am using 20x8.5 & 20x10 +40 all around, and it's pretty damn good

i would say... i could have gotten away with 20x11,

bottom line, it comes down to what kind of looks/grip u looking for??

staggered means bigger in the back than the front, which = more handling since your RWD, also, with staggered setup u get than meaty tire + more lip

I would never do the same size all around

I don't have staggered and I have +42 offset and they sit pretty nice. Tire doesn't sneak out of the back bumper but I didn't want to go with the staggered when I got my rims. I like my fitment. It's all a matter of opinion. If you wanna go for speed/sport, a bigger rear tire might be for you. But me, I've lost my liscense 4 times and don't have the need to speed anymore. My GS is for cruisin, drivin slow and turnin heads

Ooops, I did mean 20x10 in the rear. i do want that staggered fitment. So i just want to see what I can do with how much I can get away with without anything happening to the fender and how much I can lower it and what not.

I have 19x8.5 front and 19x10 rear.. with +35 all around and im really liking it... I ran a little bit of a stretched tire from and rear 235 and 265, to avoid the slight rubbing cause my car is pretty low
