I need to replace my Fulda's in the next couple of thousand miles and I'm trying to narrow my options.

My GS 400 is the first car that I've owned that has such a horrible problem with "tramlining". When I'm driving on anything less than a perfectly smooth road, the tires are constantly trying to follow the grooves or uneven edges of the street. I really have to pay attention to the steering wheel or it will try to change lanes. I've read several posts that talk about the fact that low profile tires have this issue so I guess it's to be expected from 235/45/17 size tires. I just don't remember my Talon having this problem but the tires weren't quite as wide nor as low profile.

Does anyone have any advice on what brand of tires would exhibit this behavior the least? Does everyone else have this problem? Do "directional" tires have this issue more than a tire that is "assimetric"?

 

Bridgestone have been really good on GS. Im not a tire expert but that is my best bet.

 

You should try the Bridgstone Potenza RE 730. I have them helped out with the problem you got, They also last forever compared to other Z rated tires and they are Quiet. You should also get the L-tuned ECU upgrade and your problem will be memories!.

use to have bridgestone potenza
semperit is good to up 270 Km/h.
is softer and smoother on railroad tracks etc.. but they won't last that long, anyway your car will sit as glued to the road, a superb tire, the best I've ever had until now....... and I've been using a lot of top brands too

Riding the grooves is a problem associated with the tires, not the car.

Bridgestone RE950's are xlnt tires
Kumho's 712's are also xlnt, especially when you consider the price. Many track runners are using these tires now.

You will find both much quieter than the Fulda's you are running with the advantage of better wet -dry traction.
