Default RunFlat Tires

I got a big Nail on top of my tire this weekend. Its Dunlop 5000M DSST run flat. Found out that most tire repair shops doesn't have machine or knowledge on how to replace or patch them. Then I get conflicting answers that tire may or not be patch. If driven, then it CAN'T be patch.

Any experience out there? Anyone with patched runflats?

not sure what local chain tire stores you have in NY> coming from CA
but check the tire shop main website for run flat installers...
e.g. www.justtires.com - you'll find an icon for run flat installers
don't have experience with run flats but hope this helps...

how much longer did you drive with the flat tire after it popped? the thing with runflat is that if the sidewalls are worn (driving while flat for a while) it will not be repairable.

do you have a discount tire or america's tire around there? they'll be able to help you out.

I drove it probably for about 20 miles. Car is in garage, waiting for tire shop to get Dunlop, since they are on backorder right now. Think I will just buy new tire and see if I can fix the flat and use it as spare.
