Hey folks, I have searched on this regarding a 94 LS wheel sizing and haven't found anything specific to the car. Most of the info is more about the GS than anything else which I'm not sure if apply to the 94LS.

I'm currently using 19x8.5 rims with a 35mm offset all around which came with 235/35/19s on them (wheel/tire pckg deal from friend). I want to purchase the correct tires which tirerack recommends to be 245/40/19s.

1- would this size improve the ride considerably over my present 235/35/19s?

2- In order to improve ride comfort even more, can I run a "fat" set up and if so, what size would you suggest?

Any info or pics would help on this, thanks.

Well, already the 245/40 (98mm) will have a larger sidewall than the 235/35 (82.25mm)..a little less than 5/8 of an inch difference, so the ride will be softer overall.

However, I don't know if you could run a fatter setup...

 

Thanks, nothing with a just a little more sidewall than the 245/40 provides? An additional 5/8" doesn't sound like a whole lot more.

 

Anyone else with 19s on a 94LS that can throw some opinions?

 

I wouldn't recommend going beyond a 40 series tire due to possible rubbing issues as well as causing your speedometer to display the incorrect speed by a larger margin. The extra 5/8" will give you a more comfortable ride, but what's also important is the type/brand of tire you decide to use...tread pattern and composite/treadwear are factors that will determine the quality of the ride.
