Default chroming wheels

I need some input. After much debate, I have decided to chrome my silver GS wheels. Can you all provide me with some feedback on the pro's an cons of chroming OEM silver 17's? How good is the aftermarket chroming process as opposed to the process that the wheels go through from the factory? Will there be any noticeable diference ? What about the quality??

Thanks,
Rock

Planning to chrome my OEM silver GS 17's. Also, are all OEM wheels stamped Toyota and what appears to be a "jj" on the front of the wheel near the hub??

IMO....I say the factory chrome wheels are excellent quality.....and I'm sure with a good shop, they can chrome them as well as stock. I say buy some chrome ones from someone selling them for 300-400 and then sell yours and be done with it. This way you have great quality factory wheels and you dont have to go through the downtime of having to leave them with the shop and then wait for them to be done. Also you would probably be out of pocket 50-100 bucks

yes with a good shop you can get the same quality of chroming for sure. AZD got a good idea on getting chrome ones and selling yours too

and one cons about chrome is that they usually make the wheels weaker. but with yours being 17s i think (hope) it's ok

it's because of the chrome process (where kinda like dipping the metal in some solutions and conduct electricity to put a coat of "chrome" on the surface) that makes the metal itself weaker. this is a generic explanation i guess
