Default lug key snapped

I had the most unfortunate problem today. i was taking of my wheels to adjust my coilovers and was tightening the lug nuts when all of a sudden the key just snapped. I was like, now what. here i am with half of the car dropped lower than the rest. Has anyone else had this problem. I mean did the tire shop i took my car to last week use way to much torque on the key putting my wheels on and maybe damaged it to the point of cracking, or did i just have some of my good ol luck and end up with a bad key. its like a splinedrive key.

Maybe you can give the manufacturer a call and see if they can send you a key. I'm sure it has some numbers or identifiers stamped on it somewhere.

Wellp, that sux. There is a way though. I have a litle metal tag thingie with my keys that has the key number punched into it. Not sure if you have that or not. But you can take off the lug. It is actually easier than I will make it sound.

Basically you need to get a socket, that is slightly larger than the edge of the lug. It should not be able to slide over the lug, just slightly over the edge. Then take a socket extension (trust me you want this so that in case you miss you don't smack the rim) place that over the socket, take a BFH (Big F@#$%^n Hammer) and pound the socket onto the lug. Then take a wrench and twist the hole thing off. Easy. I have done this a bunch of times for family and friends.
