Can any explain the difference between 18x8 +32mm (recommended) and the 18x8 +35mm... Little to nothing? I have read RominL's guide to wheel fit for the GS400 and can't seem to find wheels I like with the exact measurements recommended.

Does anyone think that 3mm will make a difference in rubbing or fender clearance?

3 millimeter = 0.1181102 inch

Thats like 1/8th of an inch....but that could be the difference needed for clearance.

What are the offsets on your Axis wheels and did you have to do any Mods to fit? I am looking at similar sizes in the Axis Spiders...

 

It sounds like nothing, but 3mm made a WORLD of difference for me. My CA-05s were 35mm offset and my Techniks are 38mm offset and I rub about 80-90% less now. This especially true in the dreaded "turning right while going up a driveway" department. So dont take that 3mm lightly man, it could make a big diff, this may be more so true of really low cars, but true nonetheless.

 

F is +35 / R is +45....but I bought 5mm spacers for the rear....so now the rear is essentially +40....no rubbing w/ Ltuned drop.

 

the 32 is 3mm more outward. both rims shouldn't rub at all, though i think both of them are way too conservative

 

sorry to jack your thread but yea i'm not too fimilar with offsets either, i recently bought SpdRcr0's wheels and have found out that the offset is +38 what does that mean?

 

So it sounds like if I do 18X8 with a +35 offset in front and rear I should be OK from a rubbing standpoint with the L-Tuned drop...

 

Can I ask a stupid question here? After reading another thread about offset, I was looking at my stock 17" rims tonight and realized that they aren't even close to being flush with the fender. Are spacers a DIY job? Where can you get them? About how much do they cost? Does anyone out there use them with stock rims?

yeah it's ok, but again it's way too conservative i think

 

i believe the stock wheels are offset 50. you can put spacers and push the wheels out, but imho that's a waste of money. you need a big spacer, and it's not cheap to get good ones. might as well get rims

plus spacers are not good for handling and stuff in general

I really want to do 19's, but I don't want spacers, I don't want to rub, and I don't want wheel out past the well...

According to your sticky, none of the 19's I like will fit...

 

by conservative i meant the wheels will still stick in quite a bit, so it won't flush well with the fender at all. what wheels you looking at and what offset they are offered in? i am pretty surprised they don't have a better setup
