just the glossy wood look. it is just for eye candy to me. if it is not functional it is not usually on/in my car...
honestly I hate clutter and my OCD kicks in so I am more of a minimalist and consider this to be just like going to autozone and buying stick on parts for the sake of having stick on parts...
but they are pretty though. just like my wife's fancy shoes when she gets her toes done

If you look at the 80's/90's Japanese luxury cars, they always put these in the back seats so the executives could work while they're driven around. The Nissan Century had one with a minibar in the rear center arm rest and a dictation tape recorder as well. The tables were like airline tables and folded down. It just impressed people. There was a big "Taxi bar" scandal about 4 years ago where taxi drivers who picked up MP's from the Diet building would keep a cooler with alcoholic beverages in the taxi and given them to passengers complimentary. They were just competing for clients because MP's live so far away from the Diet building that it was usually a 10,000 yen fare. You could get your entire day's salary in just one fare by just picking up a 200 yen drink.

YUP ^ ^ ^.
i don't mind the rear seat amenities but the front ones just seem a little too much for me. maybe if i lived in mainland japan and my car was basically my life and my little capsule, and i were single and wanted to impress the ladies. here in okinawa we are rarely in our cars for more than an hour at a time, unless you are stuck in some serious traffic or going from north to south of the island. we live about in the middle of the island so if i'm in my car for more than an hour i'm doing it wrong...

This is what drives me away from these trays. I am considering getting one of those rear ones made, and I'm surprised there aren't any in this thread. Its cool to see the VIP'd out trays having a strong presence, i remember when that guy was just starting out.
