Default need help from you tire stretching PROs

Sorry for the newbie question here, but are stretched tire just as dependable and durable as non-stretched tires? It just seems to me that you would be more prone to air leaks or a blown bead or any other travesty. But with stretched tires on a drift car, I guess the set-up would be fine for a daily driver.
So what size tires would you experts recommend for my 20x8.5 (24 offset) and 20x10 (20 offset) wheels?
Thank you in advance.
