Stretch Tires

What size goes well with a 20x10 wheel? Just looking for a moderate stretch. Will 275/30/20 consider a stretch?

thinking of going 245/35/20..but I don't know how it looks like...if any1 has any pics...that would be very great!

PureDrifter 04-27-08 07:30 PM

275/30/20 isnt really a stretch at all on a 20x10.

look here :)

thanks Pure, so would you advice me to go 245/35/20 or 255/35/20? I know Falkens 452 runs large...so would probably go to Yokohamas....any comments?

Black_SC 04-27-08 07:47 PM

i have 275 on a 10 and it isnt really that much of a stretch at all....i recommend 245/255...

350nub 04-27-08 07:57 PM

any pics black_sc?

245/35/20 vs 275/30/20 which is safer for Socal roads?

But really your missing one key information. What offset are you running? 275 is not a stretch at all. I have 275's on 11's and people say its a 'mild' stretch. People get stretched so they can fit low offsets in the fenders w/o rubbing which in turn give them bigger lip action of the wheel itself. Falken tires from what I have seen gives the best stretch.. I seen dunlops 275 tire on an 11 inch rim and it looks like NO STRETCH..

If you get a weak offset ALONG with stretched tires, your whole setup is going to look twice as weak..

well my front is 20x9 with 28 offset and that is very flush to the fenders already...

so i have to get stretched tires like 215 or 225/35 to avoid super duper rubbing...and the rear is 20x10 with 45 offset..not as flush but looking to get 5mm spacers eventually...and that lines perfectly with fender too...but isn't it weird to have a stretch setup on the front and not on the rear??

Thats why thinking of stretching the 20x10 too...by going 245 or 255/35...but worried that 35 series tire is going to be too BEEFY looking...

so please advice guys/gurus...

IMO, 20x9 245/35/20.. I have 20x9 +18, on 245 falken tire dropped to zero finger gap.. I rub a little but I manage. Your rears IMO is to get a 25mm spacer with replacement studs then get 255 tire on your 20x10 rim. Yes 35 series in the back IMO looks too beefy..I saw a side by side comparison with a 35 series in the rear compared to my 30 series.. big difference.. Go with 255/30/20.

350nub 04-29-08 12:03 AM

yeah saw your setup...but if i go 245/35/20 my rear will look like your fronts...and that isnt so bad...it would somehow look similar to having 275/30/20...

the max i can go on the front on a 20x9 +35 is 225/35/20...just a 2IS fitment thing...25mm spacers would make the wheel look like a 4WD offroad...hahahahaha...

255/30/20 is too thin compared to 225/35/20...i want that even look too...thats why i chose 275/30/20 originally... but have doubt and thinking of changing 245/35/20 or 255/30/20 on the 20x10 wheel....but is 245 pushing it??

WidebodyQ 04-29-08 08:55 PM

People dont take in consideration the height of the tire when they recomend tires. a 30 series would have less side wall to stretch then a 35 series hence why a 30 series would stretch more even with a wider tire

A 265/30 will give you more clearance then a 245/35

What I hate is when people don't take into consideration Overall Diameter, load rating and speed index on tires. Not to mention ignoring the inflation adjustment when upsizing rims.

Those that think they can run at OE inflation with a 3"+ upsize are sadly mistaken. Next stop blowout city!

junjdm 04-29-08 09:24 PM

i'm runnin 255/35/20....and I have 20x10's in the rear

350nub 04-29-08 11:31 PM

sorry emoshun...im just a nub at these things...thats why i ask for the gurus who can educate me...can you please advice me what to do? btw, 265/30/20 is hard to find...so choices are:

245/35/20, 255/35/20 and 275/30/20...

:) Its for an IS350...20x10 +40 wheel...my front is stretched on 225/35/20 20x9...so looking for the same stretch look the front has...

junjdm any links to pictures of the setup??

thanks guys for the advices so far!

btw i am using Yokohama's S Drives...seems to be popular nowadays and price is affordable...let me know if they are weak for stretching...

llamaboiz 04-30-08 02:05 AM

one thing about 30 series, they dont call them rubberbands for nothing... one pothole and you could need a new rim... ive seen 235's on 20x11's BUT thats for show only :p

350nub 04-30-08 02:27 AM

yeap..but does 245/35/20 rub at the rear for the 2IS dropped on H&R? how beefy would it look? or how nice will it look? so i came into conclusion...

275/30 or 245/35?
