Solar Charger
Firstly, thanks for your reply.
I have bought the solar charger because I wanted to avoid having electrical leads from the house to where I park.
I understand your concern but this model is the AA branded large 4.8 W (440mm x 345mm) panel which has some good reviews.
I was just wondering if any owner has successfully charged the 12 volt battery on a UX 250h using the cigarette lighter socket as that would be more convenient than connecting the solar charger to the battery.
Thanks
@robt123 Sorry I don't know the answer to your question re charging via the cigarette lighter socket as I haven't yet got a UX.
Would just like to add that I was warned against using my old battery charger with modern car batteries as they need more sophisticated battery chargers. Also you need to be careful charging batteries that remain connected to all the fancy electronics that are now fitted in modern cars. To avoid expensive mistakes I bought a Ctek MXS 5.0 battery charger which charges through five stages and I believe has temperature and over voltage protection. Would be worth checking if your solar panel is OK in this regard. I guess it might well be OK if it's designed just to trickle or float charge.
