cracked front windshield
Wife took car to get washed and detailed. Calls me to come get her because front windshield has a crack up the middle from wiper to the electronics mounted on the window centered. Called in claim to USAA and they transfer to glass repair shop 30 miles away. Repair shop texts that they can replace the glass but not adjust/mount the "cameras". What cameras? There is a large plastic enclosed electronics top center of the windshield including the rear view mirror.
Lexus 2020 UX 250H. Called dealer but they never called me back. Suggestions?

There are cameras in the top center of the windshield, enclosed in the black plastic housing you mention. They are part of the Lexus Safety suite (auto brake, forward collision, rain sensors, etc.) Some glass shops are not equipped to recalibrate these system and you would need to take it to a dealership to recalibrate the cameras.
There was a big difference in having a glass shop replace windshield instead of dealer. Difference has to do with moldings and anchors around OEM glass. Non-OEM parts were identified to cause increased road noise. Cost $1300 parts + $225 installation. Claim submitted to Insurance but no response as yet. Expecting $500 comprehensive deductible. Then the battle begins with Car Wash/ detailer that had car and returned it with cracked windshield.

Santa Barbara dealer did the replacement last week. They said calibrations are only necessary if they are not replacing any of the electronic components. Since our windshield was not shattered, no calibration was necessary.
